'I am just going outside and may be some time.' With these words, on 17 March 1912, Captain Oates walked out to his death in an Antarctic blizzard and won a place for himself in history as 'a very gallant gentleman'. His reputation for courage and endurance as one of the members of Scott's doomed expedition to the South Pole is as powerful today as it was almost a century ago. Sue Limb is a British writer and broadcaster. Her work includes novels - many of them for young adults - and a sitcom for ITV television and BBC Radio 4, Up the Garden Path. For Radio 4, she has written a number of comedy series: The Wordsmiths at Gorsemere, The Sit Crom, Four Joneses and a Jenkins and Alison and Maud; and also Growing Pains (a documentary about ageing), Hilaire Belloc, and Cities (six programmes of literary anthology). Nigel Planer is one of Britain's best known comedians. His role as Neil in The Young Ones made him a household name. Since then he has appeared on Saturday Night Live, French and Saunders, The Lenny Henry Show etc. as well as writing and starring in The Nicholas Craig Masterclass. His is the author of several books, including a book about fatherhood, A Good Enough Dad, and a novel, The Right Man.
