Son scenario aboutira a un film (Plan B, sorti en 2001), mais Lisa Lutz, decue par l'experience, se jure de ne plus jamais travailler pour Hollywood. C'est en 2004 qu'elle entame la redaction de Spellman et associes, premier volet de la serie des Spellman, une famille de detectives prives.
