Derek has been concentrating on illustrating children's books for over 10 years, he loves to represent children from all backgrounds. He always works from real children and enjoyed working with the bouncing babies in these books, even the ones that refused to stay in the desired poses! He had a great time capturing the expressions and gestures of the babies in a colourful and lively way. Derek's recent work includes Princess Katrina & the Hair Charmer for Tamarind as well as titles for other publishers, magazine covers and private portrait work.
