Born in north London, Lesley Grant-Adamson spent much of her childhood in the Rhondda in South Wales. She became a features writer on the Guardian newspaper, then worked as a freelance journalist and television writer before establishing herself as a novelist. Lipstick and Lies is her fourteenth novel. Her first, Patterns in the Dust, was published in 1985.
