Emma Chichester Clark was born in London. She studied at Chelsea School of Art and then the Royal College where she was taught by Quentin Blake. She won the Mother Goose Award for the most promising newcomer to children's book illustration in 1988 for her first book, Listen to This, and she has now illustrated over fifty children's books.
