Ampney Crucis Investigates: Vile Bodies by Ian Edginton

DEFENDING ENGLAND’S GREEN AND PLEASANT LAND AGAINST BALLY ABOMINATIONS FROM BEYOND THE VOID! England, 1928. Lord Ampney Crucis was a dashing, smart and charming young man, tipped to rise to the top of high society. But then the Great War happened, and a close encounter with an otherworldly entity in no man’s land drove Crucis temporarily insane. Upon recovery, he discovered that he had the ability to sense the presence of entities that exist beyond our reality. Now Ampney, aided by his loyal butler Eddie Cromwell, investigates the rum goings-on that have begun to plague our green and pleasant land... Written by champion raconteur Ian Edginton (Victorian Undead, Stickleback), with art by that jolly talented fellow Simon Davis (Stone Island, Judge Dredd), this first collection of Ampney Crucis’ supernatural adventures belongs in any gentleman’s comic collection.
IAN EDGINTON Having already established himself as a writer with the biggest names in US comics publishing on titles such as Terminator, Aliens, Predator, Batman, X-Force and Wolverine ( to name but a few), Ian Edginton made an instant impact at 2000 AD, collaborating with Steve Yeowell on the occult pirate series Red Seas. Having written both Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper, Ian has also co-created several strips for the Galaxy's Greatest Comic, including American Gothic, Stone Island, Detonator X, Ampney Crucis Investigates and the highly-regarded Stickleback. Outside of 2000 AD, Ian has been working with several publishers including Self Made Hero, Radical Comics and Wildstorm - for which he wrote Stormwatch: Post Human Division and The Victorian Undead. SIMON DAVIS Simon Davis' unique, angular painted style has been a fixture of Sinister Dexter for some years now, since his 2000 AD debut on the series. He has also found the time to create B.L.A.I.R. 1, Black Siddha and more recently Ampney Crucis Investigates, as well as contributing to Downlode Tales, Judge Dredd, Missionary Man, Outlaw, Plagues of Necropolis, Tales of Telguuth, Tharg the Mighty and Vector 13. His non-2000 AD comic strip work includes DC's JLA: Riddle of the Beast. Simon is also a successful portrait artist and was short-listed for the 'National Portrait Gallery BP Portrait Award' in 2008.
