Country Railways by Paul Atterbury
From Cornwall to the north of Scotland and from the plains of East Anglia to the heart of Wales, this book combines photography, history and anecdote to take a nostalgic look at the traditional lines to present a evocation of the railway's role in the ever-varied landscape of Britain.
Paul Atterbury, art historian, writer, transport enthusiast and expert on BBC Television's Antiques Roadshow has written a number of books on railways and waterways, including See Britain by Train, Exploring Britain's Canals, Exploring Britain's Lost Railways and Country Railways. Anthony Haines is a freelance photographer and teacher. He lives by the Thames and has been photographing the river all his life.
