Fugitives by Alex Shearer
Davy and Mike are always getting themselves in to trouble - usually with the police. When they get their hands on a load of dodgy fireworks, it seems like no big deal. They never imagined that posting one into a deserted building could blow it up. There's only one thing for it. RUN! ... but as they're running from the scene, they are spotted by a couple passing by, Kelly and Shaw. When the couple offer to help, by taking them to the countryside and hiding with them in a cottage until it all blows over, Davy and Mike can't believe their luck. In the space of a week, they find themselves happily living together, and it's almost like the loving family they never had ... except it's not. They quickly realise that something more sinister than they could have imagined is going on, and, as events unfold, it seems like their lives will never be the same again...SEALEGS

Tense and involving, this is accomplished work* The Independent *
The Fugitives is a pacy thriller and . . . involves the reader in bigger ideas and issues. . . The context of terrorism allows him to explore ideas of personal responsibility, both to people and ideals. The strong link between character dilemma and plot makes the gritty and shocking events believable. * Write Away Website *
From the very beginning the reader is drawn in and the action is fast. The ethical issues that arise are dealt with honestly and realistically. * The School Librarian *
