Love is Worth Fighting for by Effie Kammenou
The third installment of The Meraki Series: (Easily read as a coming-of-age standalone) All Krystina wants is to travel to beautiful locations, promote her blog, and achieve Insta fame. But with Loukas, her pesky frenemy from childhood, in tow, she hardly has time to breathe. If only he would leave her alone But when the unforeseen strikes, forcing her to face challenging situations she never thought possible, it's Loukas who helps her through it all. And then there's the search her sisters began to find out what happened to her missing grandfather--the man her grandmother has pinned all her faith on, believing he will one day return to her. Krystina is determined to find and bring him home, even through the most challenging of times. This quest will test everything she has come to know. But she may learn that through it all, when everything else crumbles around you, love is worth fighting for. For fans of Lynn Painter's Betting on You, lovers of travel romance, and enemies-to-lovers forced proximity tropes. A note to readers When I began writing The Meraki Series, I had mapped out in my mind who the main characters were and how I wanted their stories to unfold. However, I had no idea that Love is What You Bake of it would publish when much of the world suddenly went into lockdown due to an unforeseen pandemic.
During this period of isolation, I wrote Love by Design, never thinking that we would still be hostage to this virus by its release day. Both of these books brought some levity to a dark period for readers, though there were some serious aspects to the story.
I had always planned to solve the mystery of the missing grandfather in this third book in the series. What I hadn't expected was for COVID to drive my plot, changing the course of events for these characters, just as it had in our own lives.
The characters traveled to beautiful locations in both The Gift Saga Trilogy and earlier books in The Meraki Series. Unfortunately, in keeping this book realistic to the times, there was only one brief but necessary trip to Athens, Greece.
Regardless of these limitations, all your favorite characters are back to push Krystina along in her quest for love and to make sure everyone around her finds it as well.
Thank you for reading and supporting me all these years to continue writing. I couldn't do this without your loyalty and encouragement.
Effie Kammenou is a believer that it is never too late to chase your dreams, follow your heart or change your career. She is proof of that. At one time, long ago, she'd thought that, by her age, she would have had an Oscar in her hand after a successful career as an actor. Instead, she worked in the optical field for 40 years and is the proud mother of two accomplished young women. Her debut novel, Evanthia's Gift, is a women's fiction multigenerational love story and family saga, influenced by her Greek heritage, and the many real life accounts that have been passed down. She continues to pick her father's brain for stories of his family's life in Lesvos, Greece, and their journey to America. Her interview with him was published in a nationally circulated magazine. Evanthia's Gift: Book One in The Gift Saga was a 2016 award finalist in the Readers Favorite Awards in the Women's Fiction category. Waiting for Aegina: Book Two in The Gift Saga is Kammenou's latest release. Effie Kammenou is a first generation Greek-American who lives on Long Island with her husband and two daughters. When she's not writing, or posting recipes on her food blog, cheffieskitchen.wordpress.com, you can find her cooking for her family and friends. As an avid cook and baker, a skill she learned from watching her Athenian mother, she incorporated traditional Greek family recipes throughout the books. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theater Arts from Hofstra University.
