Me So Far by Donald Jack
It's 1925, and Bandy has finally found a secure post-war job: commander of the Maharajah of Jhamjarh's new air force. The only problem is, the British Raj is not so happy with him for setting up a rival air power inside British India. Between the impractical Maharajah, the British viceroy, and the Great Game being played by the neighbouring state of Khaliwar, Bandy has his hands full trying to keep his employer -- and himself -- out of deadly danger. Before moving to Canada, Donald Jack was born in England and served in the Royal Air Force during WWII. He was well-known for his screenplays for films and television shows, as well as his plays. However, he is best known for The Bandy Papers, a series of comic books about the experiences of a bumbling First World War soldier who went on to fame and tragedy in the postwar world. Three Cheers For Me; That's Me In The Center; It's Me Again; Me Bandy, You Cissie; Me Too; and This One's On Me, the first six volumes in the series, were recently republished by McClelland & Stewart. They won three Leacock Awards for Humour and the unwavering support of Bandy fans all across the world. Donald Jack, who was 78 years old at the time of his death, died in 2003.
