Rex by Ursula Dubosarsky
This is an utterly original picture book about a familiar classroom practice, which highlights the fantastic imaginations of young children. Rex is a chameleon and a popular class pet. Every day someone gets to take Rex home, along with a book in which to write all the things Rex did on his visit. If a child can't write, they can draw a picture and as you might expect, the pictures are exaggerated and very funny. Although Rex is small, he seems to have dinosaur-sized adventures!
Ursula Dubosarsky is widely regarded as one of the most talented and original writers in Australia today. She is the author of many outstanding books, both for young adults and for children and has won many awards. She lives in Sydney and is married with two children. David Mackintosh is also an Australian, now living in London. He has illustrated many picture books and young fiction, but this is the first to be published in UK. He is also an experienced and highly creative designer who has worked with some of the top names in children's picture books.
