Shamanism by Nevill Drury

Shamanism is a visionary tradition, an ancient practice of altering states of consciousness to contact the gods and spirits of the natural world. At a time when we are all becoming increasingly aware of our environment and the fragility of ecological balance, Shamanism has a clear message - we should respect the sanctity of nature. Providing an introduction to Shamanism, this guide looks at: the history and practice of this ancient discipline; what it is, how it works and what it can do for the reader; where Shananism can be found today; and how to understand the cosmology, rituals and inner world of Shamanism.
