Alice Vollenweider, born 1929 in Zurich, graduated in Romanic languages. She wrote her doctoral thesis on the influence of Italian cooking on French cuisine as reflected in language. She has written many liteary essays on contemporary Italian literature and translated Natalia Ginzburg, Luigi Malerba, Eugenio Montale, Giacomo Leopardi and Giorgio Manganelli into German.
