In today's world we see many occurrences that are strange and not easily explained. Such was the situation with Jeff Benson who could not realize how a visit to the Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee in his youth would have far reaching implications later in life. The encounter there with the statue of the Greek goddess Athena seemed of no consequence until years later, when her spirit moved into his life and Jeff saw Athena's image in his own love affair. Soon members of his inner circle were also affected, succumbing to her supernatural mysticism.
Arundhati Roy wowed critics with her writing debut, The God of Small Things, which won the Booker Prize in 1998. Ms. Roy is an outspoken critic of India's nuclear weapons testing, controversial environmental issues and the US war on terrorism.
