Kaffe Fassett (1937-) was born in San Francisco and graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, at the early age of 19. He moved to London in 1964 and has subsequently become known for his colourful designs in the decorative arts - esp. needlepoint, patchwork, and knitting. His work was the subject of a one-man show at the V&A London in 1988, the first time a living textile artist was honoured in this way. He is a prolific author and occasional host of TV/radio shows for the BBC.
