This book charts the rise of the AA and reflects the interest in collecting its memorabilia in the form of badges, books, models and signs. It includes detailed information on the dating of car badges. The illustrations are all from the AA archive or have been specially commissioned.
Michael Passmore is the former Archivist of the AA. He joined the AA in 1968 in the Membership Department, transferring some years later to the staff newspaper, then known as 'Fanum News'. In 1990 he moved to the archive section, where he spent ten years. During this time he gave talks to outside organisations, conducted tours of the then AA museum for staff and visitors and added many items to the AA collection.
