Ruth Dugdall was born in Hull and went to Warwick University to study English literature before becoming a probation officer. When her debut novel The Lady Before Me received the 2005 Crime Writers' Association Debut Dagger Award, she decided to focus on her literary career. Her novels are based on her personal experiences working in the criminal justice system and have been published all over the world. Her sixth novel is titled My Sister and Other Liars. Ruth, her husband, and their two children live in Suffolk.
