New Hotel by David Collins

Aimed at architects, designers and space planners, this design title looks at technological, social and cultural issues exploring the effects of architecture and design on those who use, as well as those who construct, hotels. Each chapter raises questions about the role of the modern hotel. There are 15 contemporary case studies, drawn from examples worldwide, illustrating innovative projects.
David Collins is an established designer who started his business in 1985 after working in an architectural practice. His design philosophy uses simple, natural materials of quality and endurance. Projects he has worked on include the Claridges Bar in London; the new Vivienne Westwood store in Soho, London; the refurbishment of Marco Pierre White's restaurant Mirabelle in London; the Domes brasserie chain throughout Britain and the John Barrett hair salon at Bergdorf Goodman in New York. This is his first book.
