Oshie by Jon Blake
Oshie is an engaging, funny, enthusiastic and often rebellious boy – it just so happens he has cerebral palsy. In these four stories – from Oshie's starting at a new school and being shunned for his inability to play football to saving the day on the pitch – he wins the admiration, and hearts, of his classmates for the abilities which compensate for, and partially arise, out of his disability.
Jon Blake is an established writer of fiction and drama, primarily for young people. He has been shortlisted for the Children's Book Award and the Writers' Guild Best Children's TV Script. His work is noted for its originality, humour and dialogue and he was the Wales winner of the BBC Talent radio comedy competition. He has been a lecturer at the University of Glamorgan and has twenty-two years' teaching experience at all levels. Jon now teaches a range of workshops with primary and secondary age children.
