Handbook of Batteries by David Linden
This revised edition covers all aspects of battery design and selection. It includes new sections on technologies such as lithium primary and rechargeable batteries. The technical data has been updated to cover the vast improvements in battery performance in recent years. The handbook details the characteristics, properties, performance and applications of all types of electric batteries. It should help determine the performance characteristics of batteries under all conditions of use; establish the conditions and operating procedures for optimum use of each battery system; and select the most suitable battery for a given application.
David Linden has been active in battery research and development and engineering for more than 40 years, and is currently a battery consultant with Duracell, Inc. Earlier, he was director of the Power Sources Division of the U.S. Army Electronics R&D Command. Many battery types and power sources currently in use, including Lithium Primary batteries and fuel cells, resulted from development work by that division. Mr. Linden is now associated with the development and application of the newer primary and rechargeable batteries and is a member of national and international groups establishing standards for these new technologies.
