The Penningtons by Pamela Oldfield

A tale of family, friendship and secrets, from a well-loved author - 1902, Bath. When the housekeeper suddenly resigns, seventeen-year-old housemaid Daisy is left to cope alone with the almost bedridden owner of the house, Montague Pennington, Esq. Monty's unpleasant relations begrudgingly search for a new housekeeper, as lively Daisy takes charge. However serious problems arise as a mysterious stranger begins to target the entire family. It seems that the Penningtons hold dark secrets, and the past cannot be suppressed for much longer . . .

Oldfield, Jenny: - Born and brought up in Harrogate, Yorkshire, Jenny Oldfield went on to study English at Birmingham University, where she did research on the Bronte novels and on Children's Literature. She then worked as a teacher, before deciding to concentrate on writing. She writes novels for both children and adults and, when she can escape from her desk, likes to spend time outdoors. She loves the countryside and enjoys walking, gardening, playing tennis, riding her horse Merlin and traveling with her two daughters, Kate and Eve.
