Steaming by Nell Dunn
Steaming is set in the 'Turkish Room' of a run-down Public Baths in the East End of London, where five women regularly meet, to bathe, relax and share their troubles. When it was written, Steaming was groundbreaking for having an almost all-female cast.
NELL DUNN has written several novels including Up The Junction and Poor Cow (filmed by Ken Loach). She has also written many plays, the best known of which, Steaming, won the Olivier Award for Best Comedy and was made into a film by Joseph Losey starring Vanessa Redgrave and Diana Dors. She lives in London.
